Description

Quick, crispy air fryer apple fritters with a tender cinnamon-apple center and a simple vanilla glaze — no deep frying required, ready in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Fritters

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder, corrected from the original 2 Tbsp — verify with a test batch
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and finely diced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

Vanilla Glaze (optional)

  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons water, add gradually to desired consistency

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then whisk in the milk and vanilla.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir just until combined into a thick, spoonable batter. Do not overmix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples.
  • Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. Scoop roughly ⅓-cup portions of batter into the basket, spacing them apart, and shape into rounds.
  • Lightly spray or brush the tops with oil or melted butter.
  • Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, checking at 6 minutes, until golden and cooked through. Work in batches as needed.
  • Cool on a wire rack for a few minutes.
  • Whisk the glaze ingredients together and drizzle over the cooled fritters (or dust with powdered sugar). Serve warm.

Equipment

  • Parchment Paper
  • Cooking Spray, or nonstick cooking spray

Notes

  • Baking powder: The original card listed 2 tablespoons; that is unusually high for 1¼ cups of flour and was reduced to 2 teaspoons here. Confirm against your tested version before publishing.
  • Doneness: Air fryer wattage varies — start checking at the 6-minute mark.
  • Make it gluten-free: Use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend and gluten-free baking powder.
  • Best served fresh and warm. Reheat at 300°F for 3–5 minutes to re-crisp.
