Description

Air Fryer Cheeseburger French Fry Casserole layers seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese, and crispy fries into one easy 45-minute family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 10¾ ounces condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 10¾ ounces condensed cheddar cheese soup
  • 20 ounces frozen French fries
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional toppings: ketchup, mustard, sliced pickles

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 7–9 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese soup, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an air-fryer-safe casserole dish and spread the beef mixture evenly inside.
  • Arrange the frozen French fries in a single layer over the beef. Lightly spray the fries with cooking spray for extra crispiness.
  • Place the dish in the preheated air fryer and cook for 20–25 minutes, until the fries are golden and crisp and the casserole is heated through (beef should reach a safe internal temperature of 160°F / 71°C).
  • Let the casserole rest a few minutes. Drizzle with ketchup and mustard and garnish with pickles, if desired. Serve with a side salad or your favorite dipping sauce.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer, or Air Fryer Oven
  • Cooking Spray
  • Baking Pan, Must be oven-safe and smaller than your air fryer basket

Notes

  • For the crispiest top, keep the fries in a single layer and mist them with oil before cooking.
  • Air fryers vary — start checking at the 20-minute mark.
  • Drain the beef well to avoid an oily casserole.
  • Make ahead: assemble, refrigerate, and add a few extra minutes when cooking from cold.
  • Store leftovers airtight in the fridge up to 3 days; reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes until hot and re-crisped.
  • Swap the fries for tater tots, or use sliced zucchini/cauliflower for a low-carb version.
