Ingredients
For the cupcakes:
15.25ouncesdevil's food cake mix, 1 box
20ouncescherry pie filling, about 1 can
3largeeggs
1teaspoonpure vanilla extract
For the topping:
16ounceschocolate frosting
20reserved cherries, from the pie filling
Instructions
Reserve cherries. Spoon out about 20 cherries from the cherry pie filling and set aside in a small bowl for topping.
Make the batter. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the devil's food cake mix, the remaining cherry pie filling, eggs, and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fill the liners. Fill cupcake liners about ⅔ full with batter.
Air fry. Place several cupcakes in the air fryer basket (don't crowd them) and air fry at 320°F for 9–12 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Work in batches until all the batter is used.
Cool. Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
Frost and finish. Spread or pipe chocolate frosting onto each cupcake and top with one reserved cherry. Serve and enjoy.
