Description

Crispy air fryer scrapple with a golden crust and a soft, savory center — ready in about 20 minutes with no grease splatter and no pan to wash. A Pennsylvania Dutch breakfast classic, made easier.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces scrapple, cut into 8 slices
  • Cooking spray, as needed

Instructions

  • Take the scrapple directly from the refrigerator and cut it into 8 slices, each about 1/2 inch thick. Cold scrapple slices cleanly; let it warm up and it will crumble.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3–5 minutes.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket, then arrange the scrapple slices in a single layer with space between them. Work in batches if needed. Spray the tops of the slices.
  • Air fry at 400°F for 9 minutes.
  • Flip each slice with a thin metal spatula and air fry for another 7–11 minutes, until deeply golden brown and crisp at the edges.
  • Let rest 1 minute, then serve hot.

Equipment

  • Air fryer (basket or oven style)
  • Sharp thin-bladed knife
  • Thin metal spatula
  • Cooking Spray

Notes

Slice thickness: 1/4-inch slices cook in 12–14 minutes and give a firmer center. 1/2-inch slices take 16–20 minutes and stay creamy inside.
From frozen: 400°F for 22–26 minutes, flipping at 12 minutes. Slice before freezing.
Storage: Refrigerate cooled slices in an airtight container for 3–4 days. Freeze wrapped slices for up to 2 months.
Reheating: Air fry at 350°F for 4–5 minutes, flipping once.
