An easy 5-minute copycat Pizza Hut pizza sauce made with tomato paste and a simple herb blend. No cooking required, and it tastes just like the real thing.
Ingredients
6ouncetomato paste
1cupwarm water
1tablespoongranulated sugar
1teaspoondried oregano
½teaspoondried marjoram
½teaspoondried basil
½teaspoongarlic powder
½teaspoononion powder
½teaspoonsalt
¼teaspoonblack pepper
1teaspoonlemon juice, or ⅛ teaspoon citric acid
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk the tomato paste with the warm water, adding the water gradually, until completely smooth with no lumps.
Whisk in the sugar, oregano, marjoram, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Crush the dried herbs between your fingers as you add them.
Cover and let rest at room temperature for at least 30 minutes so the herbs can bloom.
Taste and adjust the sugar, salt, or water as needed.
Spread onto raw pizza dough and bake. Do not cook the sauce beforehand.
