My Air Fryer S’mores Dip takes three ingredients and about five minutes. You get molten chocolate on the bottom, marshmallows toasted golden and puffed on top, and not a campfire in sight — just scoop it up with graham crackers while it’s still warm.

Why This Air Fryer S’mores Dip Works
I’ve made s’mores every way there is, and the air fryer genuinely beats the oven for this one. The heating element sits directly above the food, so it browns the marshmallow tops the way a campfire does — fast, uneven in the good way, with those dark blistered spots. An oven just can’t do that in five minutes.
A few other reasons it’s earned a permanent spot in my rotation:
- Three ingredients. Chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers. That’s the whole list.
- About 5 minutes of cook time, plus a quick preheat.
- No campfire, no oven, no fire pit. Works in February.
- Endlessly customizable — I’ve included my favorite swaps further down.
- Feeds a crowd from one small pan, which makes it a great last-minute party dessert.
Ingredients You’ll Need

- Chocolate chips — Semi-sweet is my default because it keeps the dip from going cloyingly sweet against all that marshmallow. Milk chocolate works if you want it sweeter, dark if you want it richer. You can also break up a Hershey’s bar instead; it melts a little glossier.
- Marshmallows — Regular-size marshmallows give you the classic look, standing upright like little towers. Mini marshmallows melt faster and give you more toasted surface area. Jumbo marshmallows look dramatic but need an extra minute. Any of the three works.
- Graham crackers — For dipping. Chocolate graham crackers are a nice upgrade.
That’s it. Everything else on this page is optional.
How to Make S’mores Dip in the Air Fryer

Step 1: Preheat to 350°F for 3 minutes. Don’t skip this — a cold basket means the chocolate melts before the marshmallows brown, and you lose the contrast that makes this dish work.
Step 2: Spread the chocolate chips in an even layer across the bottom of a small air-fryer-safe pan. I use a 6-inch cast iron skillet, which fits my basket with room for air to circulate. A 6-to-7-inch cake pan, springform pan, or small ceramic baking dish all work equally well. Whatever you use, leave at least an inch of clearance around the sides.
Step 3: Arrange the marshmallows on top of the chocolate in a single layer, cut side down if you’re using regular-size ones. Press each one gently into the chocolate so it sticks — this keeps them from getting blown around by the fan.
Step 4: Air fry at 350°F. Start checking at the 3-minute mark. You’re looking for marshmallows that have puffed up and turned deep golden brown on top, with the chocolate melted underneath. Most air fryers land between 4 and 6 minutes, but powerful models can get there faster.
Watch it closely. Marshmallows go from golden to burnt in about fifteen seconds under direct heat. This is not a set-it-and-walk-away recipe.
Step 5: Pull the pan out with oven mitts — it will be extremely hot — and serve right away with graham crackers. The dip is at its best in the first ten minutes while the chocolate is still fully molten.

Tips From My Kitchen
- Use a pan, not the bare basket. Melted chocolate through the perforations is a genuinely miserable cleanup. If you don’t have a small pan, see the FAQ below for the foil workaround.
- Chocolate on the bottom, always. It acts as a barrier so the marshmallows don’t weld themselves to the pan.
- Don’t crowd the marshmallows. Leave a little space between them. They expand as they heat, and spacing lets hot air reach the sides so they brown evenly instead of just on top.
- Every air fryer runs differently. Basket-style models tend to brown faster than oven-style ones. Your first batch is a calibration batch — write down what worked.
- Have your dippers ready before you start. Five minutes goes quickly, and this dessert waits for no one.
Variations Worth Trying
The three-ingredient version is the foundation. Here’s how I dress it up:
- Peanut butter s’mores dip — Add ½ cup peanut butter chips to the chocolate layer, or swirl a spoonful of peanut butter over the melted chocolate before adding marshmallows. If you want to lean all the way into that combination, my Air Fryer Peanut Butter S’mores in a Jar is built entirely around it.
- Cookie dough s’mores dip — Scatter ½ cup frozen cookie dough bites over the chocolate before the marshmallows go on. This is the loaded version I’ve made for years and it’s excellent, just no longer the default.
- Candy bar swap — Trade the chocolate chips for a chopped Snickers, Reese’s, Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Cream, or Twix bar.
- Salty crunch — Crushed pretzel sticks over the chocolate layer. The salt cuts the sweetness beautifully.
- Caramel — Swap in caramel chips for half the chocolate, or drizzle caramel sauce over the finished dip.
- Marshmallow fluff — Out of marshmallows? Dollop fluff over the chocolate instead. It won’t hold its shape the same way, but it browns and tastes right.
- Holiday version — Around October I make my Easy Air Fryer Halloween S’mores Dip with orange and black candy melts and candy eyeballs. Same method, festive result.

What to Serve With S’mores Dip
Graham crackers are traditional, but the dip is good with anything sturdy enough to scoop:
- Chocolate graham crackers
- Pretzel rods or thick pretzel crisps
- Shortbread cookies, Nilla wafers, or biscoff cookies
- Strawberries, banana slices, or apple slices
- Marshmallows on skewers, for the fully committed
- Warm churros — my Air Fryer Churro Bites and Air Fryer Nutella-Stuffed Churros both make outstanding dippers
Storing and Reheating
Refrigerator: Cover leftovers tightly and refrigerate up to 3 days. The dip will firm up completely when cold.
To reheat: Return the pan to the air fryer at 300°F for 2 to 3 minutes, until the chocolate loosens again. Lower heat matters here — 350°F will burn the already-toasted marshmallow tops. A microwave in 20-second bursts also works if your pan is microwave-safe.
Freezing: I don’t recommend it. Freezing and thawing wrecks marshmallow texture, and it comes back grainy.

Air Fryer S’mores Dip FAQs
What size pan do I need? A 6-to-7-inch pan fits most air fryer baskets with the clearance you need for air circulation. Cast iron skillets, cake pans, springform pans, and ceramic baking dishes all work. Measure your basket before you buy anything.
Can I make this without a pan? Yes. Line the basket with a sheet of foil or parchment, leaving extra hanging over two sides as handles. Assemble directly on the liner and lift the whole thing out when it’s done. Cleanup is easier, though the chocolate spreads thinner and cools faster.
What temperature and time should I use? 350°F for 4 to 6 minutes. Start checking at 3 minutes. Air fryers vary more than almost any other appliance, so treat visual doneness — puffed, deeply golden marshmallows — as the real signal.
Why did my marshmallows burn? Almost always too much heat or too much time. If your air fryer runs hot, drop to 325°F and add a minute. Marshmallows sitting close to the heating element in a compact basket brown much faster than in a larger oven-style model.
Can I make this in the oven instead? Yes. Bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes, until the marshmallows are golden and the chocolate has melted. You won’t get quite the same toasted top — if you want it, run it under the broiler for the last 30 seconds and don’t look away.
Can I double the recipe? Not in one pan. The dip needs a shallow, even layer to cook properly, and a deep pan leaves you with burnt tops and unmelted chocolate underneath. Make two batches back to back — the second one only takes five minutes.
Is this the same as regular s’mores? Same flavors, different format. If you want individual s’mores rather than a shared dip, I make those in the air fryer too: Air Fryer S’mores.

Air Fryer S’mores Dip
Description
Ingredients
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, or one 4.4 oz chocolate bar, chopped
- 2 cups marshmallows, regular or mini
- 8 graham cracker sheets, for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes.
- Spread the chocolate chips in an even layer across the bottom of a 6-inch cast iron skillet or other air-fryer-safe pan. Lightly grease the pan first if it isn’t nonstick.
- Arrange the marshmallows on top of the chocolate in a single layer, pressing each one gently into the chocolate so it stays put. Leave a little space between them.
- Air fry at 350°F for 4 to 6 minutes, checking at the 3-minute mark. The dip is done when the marshmallows are puffed and deeply golden brown and the chocolate has melted underneath.
- Remove the pan carefully with oven mitts — it will be very hot. Serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping.
Equipment
- 6-inch cast iron skillet or air-fryer-safe baking pan
Notes
- Air fryers vary significantly. Go by color, not the clock: puffed, deeply golden marshmallows mean it’s ready. If yours runs hot, drop to 325°F and add a minute.
- No pan? Line the basket with foil or parchment, leaving overhang on two sides as handles, and assemble directly on the liner.
- Oven method: bake at 375°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Store covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Reheat at 300°F for 2 to 3 minutes. Freezing is not recommended.
