This Ninja Slushi Frosted Lemonade is a two-ingredient copycat of the Chick-fil-A original — tart, creamy, and frosty, made entirely in the machine with no blender, no ice cream, and no ice.

If you have ever pulled into the drive-thru just for the frosted lemonade, this is the recipe that ends those trips. You pour two things into your Ninja Slushi, press Slush, and walk away. Twenty to forty-five minutes later you have most of a pitcher of it, and unlike the drive-thru version, it does not disappear from the menu in October.

The trick is Dream Whip. Not for flavor — for texture and for physics, which I will explain below, because it is the reason this recipe works when a lot of homemade frosted lemonades come out of the machine as a solid block.

Why This Recipe Works

  • Two ingredients. Lemonade and one box of Dream Whip. That is the entire shopping list.
  • No blender, no ice, no ice cream. The Slushi does all of it. Nothing gets watered down.
  • Genuinely creamy. Dream Whip gives you the soft, milkshake-adjacent texture that separates a frosted lemonade from a regular lemonade slush.
  • Makes a real batch. Six cups fits every Ninja Slushi model, including the smallest one.
  • Year-round. No seasonal menu, no drive-thru line.

Ingredients

Cold lemonade and a box of Dream Whip mix, the two ingredients for Ninja Slushi frosted lemonade

Lemonade — 6 cups, cold. Store-bought or homemade both work. Chilled is not optional; room-temperature liquid can add fifteen or twenty minutes to the churn.

Dream Whip — one 2.6 oz box (all 4 envelopes). You will find it in the baking aisle near the pudding mixes, not the refrigerated whipped topping. Whisk it in dry.

A note on sugar (read this before you substitute)

The Ninja Slushi does not make ice — it chills a liquid until it reaches a slush state and keeps churning it there. That only works if the liquid has enough dissolved sugar to lower its freezing point. Too little sugar and you get a frozen block the auger fights against; too much and it never firms up.

Regular lemonade sits in the right range on its own. Diet, zero-sugar, and lightly sweetened lemonades often do not — if that is what you have, plan on stirring in a few tablespoons of sugar or simple syrup before it goes into the machine. The Dream Whip adds a little sugar and a lot of body, which is why this combination is so reliable.

How to Make Ninja Slushi Frosted Lemonade

Step One: In a large pitcher or mixing bowl, whisk the cold lemonade and the Dream Whip mix together until the powder is fully dissolved. Give it a good sixty seconds — undissolved clumps will float and churn unevenly. A measuring pitcher with a spout makes the pour easier.

Step Two: Pour the mixture into your Ninja Slushi, staying under the max fill line. Six cups is 48 ounces, which fits every model.

Step Three: Select the Slush preset and let it run. It will churn for roughly 20 to 45 minutes depending on how cold your liquid started and how warm your kitchen is. The machine beeps when it hits the target consistency.

Step Four: Pull the lever and dispense into glasses. Serve right away.

Tips for the Best Texture

  • Let the machine rest upright for two hours before its first use of the day if it has been moved or stored on its side. The compressor needs it, and skipping this step is the most common reason a batch will not freeze.
  • Start cold. Refrigerated lemonade cuts the churn time nearly in half compared to room temperature.
  • Do not add ice. There is nowhere for it to go, and it will only dilute the flavor and strain the auger.
  • Adjust the thickness on the side panel while it runs if you want it looser or firmer.
  • Taste before you pour it in, not after. Once it is churning, you cannot easily fix the sweetness.
  • A splash of fresh lemon juice brightens store-bought lemonade considerably. Add it to the pitcher in Step One.
  • Serve immediately. Frosted lemonade softens fast in a warm glass — chilling your glasses first buys you a few extra minutes.

Storing Leftovers

The Slushi will hold a batch at slush consistency for hours as long as it stays powered on, which is usually the easiest answer. If you want to empty it, pour leftovers into an airtight container and refrigerate up to 24 hours — it will separate, so shake or stir before drinking. It will not re-slush properly in the freezer, so I would not bother.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh-squeezed lemonade? Yes, and the flavor is noticeably better. Just make sure it is sweetened to roughly the level of store-bought — see the sugar note above — or it will freeze too hard.

What if I do not have Dream Whip? Sweetened condensed milk is the common substitute (about half a can to six cups of lemonade), though it makes a richer, sweeter drink and pushes the sugar higher. For a lighter version without any creamy element at all, make my Ninja Slushi Lemonade Slushi instead — it is a straight lemonade slush rather than a frosted one.

Which preset should I use? Slush. If your model has a Milkshake or Frappé setting, you can use that for a thicker, softer result closer to a shake — the same setting I use for the Ninja Slushi Caramel Frappuccino.

Why is my lemonade freezing solid? Not enough sugar. Diet or unsweetened lemonade is almost always the culprit. Add sugar or simple syrup to the pitcher and try again.

Can I make it boozy? Not by adding vodka to this recipe — alcohol lowers the freezing point further and will keep it from setting. Use my Ninja Slushi Hard Lemonade, which is balanced for it, or the Ninja Slushi Sangria Wine Slushie if you want something for a party.

Can kids drink this? Absolutely — it is caffeine-free and alcohol-free. The Ninja Slushi Shirley Temple Slush is another one my family requests constantly.

What to Make Next

Once you get comfortable with the machine, the copycats are the most fun part of owning it. The Ninja Slushi Copycat Frosty is the obvious follow-up to this one, and the Easy Ninja Slushi Blue Raspberry Slush is the classic gas-station flavor done right. When the weather turns, the Apple Cider Slushie is what I switch to. You can browse everything else in my drinks recipes.

Instructions

  • Whisk the cold lemonade and Dream Whip mix together in a large pitcher until the powder is completely dissolved, about 1 minute.
