If you have been scrolling for this recipe, you have probably seen five different versions with five different measurements — 32 ounces, 52 ounces, 6 cups, one packet, two packets. Here is the ratio that actually works, and more importantly, why it works:

4 cups (32 ounces) chilled pineapple juice + 1 envelope Dream Whip.

Whisk, pour, press Slush. That is the entire recipe. 🍍✨

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Only 2 ingredients — pineapple juice and Dream Whip, both from the regular grocery store.
  • No blender, no ice — the Ninja Slushi does all of the work while you do something else.
  • Makes a full batch — enough for the whole family, not one sad blender jar.
  • Stays frozen — the machine holds it at serving temperature for hours, so seconds are always ready.
  • Tastes like the parks — bright, tangy pineapple with a creamy soft-serve finish.

Why the Ninja Slushi Version Is Different

Most Dole Whip recipes are blender recipes. Frozen pineapple chunks, vanilla ice cream, a splash of juice, blend until smooth.

The Ninja Slushi does something different, though. Instead of crushing ice, it slowly chills the liquid while churning it, which builds tiny ice crystals rather than big ones. That is the same principle behind an ice cream machine, and it is why the texture comes out smooth and creamy instead of grainy. You also get a full vessel’s worth instead of a single blender pitcher.

The Dream Whip is doing more than you think. It is not there for flavor — it is sugar, oil, and emulsifiers. Those emulsifiers coat the ice crystals as they form and stop them from locking together into a solid block, which is exactly what gives soft serve its body. Pineapple juice alone in the Slushi tastes great but comes out thin. Add the Dream Whip and it turns into Dole Whip.

Ingredients

Pineapple juice and a Dream Whip envelope on a wooden table

Pineapple Juice (4 cups, cold): Use 100% pineapple juice, not a pineapple “drink” or a light, no-sugar-added blend. This matters more than it sounds — the Ninja Slushi needs at least 4% sugar to freeze properly, and 100% pineapple juice sits comfortably above that. Reduced-sugar versions can fall below the line and set off the machine’s low-sugar alert. Cold juice straight from the refrigerator also cuts your freeze time by ten minutes or more.

Dream Whip Whipped Topping Mix (1 envelope): Find it in the baking aisle near the pudding and gelatin. A 2.6-ounce box contains two envelopes, so one box makes two batches. You are using the powder dry, straight into the juice — ignore the whipping instructions on the box entirely.

That is it. No milk, no ice cream, no ice.

How To Make Ninja Slushi Dole Whip

Dream Whip powder being whisked into a measuring cup of pineapple juice

Step One: Pour 4 cups of cold pineapple juice into a large liquid measuring cup. Sprinkle in the contents of one Dream Whip envelope and whisk for about a minute, until the powder fully dissolves and no dry lumps remain. The mixture will look pale and foamy — that is exactly right.

Step Two: Open the fill port on top of your Ninja Slushi and pour the mixture into the vessel. Stay above the minimum fill line and below MAX FILL.

Step Three: Press the Slush preset and let the machine run. Expect 20 to 30 minutes depending on how cold your juice was and how warm your kitchen is. If your model has a temperature control, set it toward the colder end for a thicker result.

Step Four: Pull the lever, dispense into tall glasses, and serve right away. Garnish with a pineapple frond or a maraschino cherry.

How Much Should You Make?

The Ninja Slushi holds between 16 and 64 ounces (some newer models go to 72 — check the line molded inside your vessel). Keep the ratio at about one envelope per 32 ounces of juice:

Batch SizePineapple JuiceDream WhipServes
Small2 cups (16 oz)½ envelope2
Standard4 cups (32 oz)1 envelope3–4
Full8 cups (64 oz)2 envelopes6–8

The full box of Dream Whip is 73 grams, so one envelope is roughly 36 grams and half is about 18 grams if you want to weigh it. Filling closer to the max line gives you the best dispensing, so if you are serving a crowd, make one big batch rather than two small ones back to back.

Tips For The Best Dole Whip

  • Chill everything. Refrigerate the juice overnight. Room-temperature juice can add fifteen minutes or more to the cycle. This is the single biggest factor in how fast your Slushi finishes.
  • Whisk until smooth. Dry pockets of Dream Whip powder do nothing for the texture. Take the full minute.
  • Do not overfill. Liquid expands as it freezes, and the MAX FILL line accounts for that.
  • Chill your glasses. Cold glasses hold the swirl longer.
  • Serve immediately. Once dispensed, it starts to separate. Anything left in the machine stays perfect.

Troubleshooting

It is not thickening. Almost always temperature. Start with refrigerator-cold juice, and check that the vessel is seated with the bail handle locked down.

The low-sugar alert is going off. You used a light, diet, or no-sugar-added juice. Whisk in a tablespoon or two of simple syrup or sugar per serving, reset the preset, and restart. Next time, buy the full-sugar juice.

It came out icy instead of creamy. Either the Dream Whip did not fully dissolve, or you used too little relative to the juice.

It overflowed. You went past the MAX FILL line.

Variations

Spiked Dole Whip: Add ½ cup of coconut rum to the standard batch and use the Spiked Slush preset instead. Keep the mixture inside the machine’s recommended alcohol range — too much alcohol will not freeze at all. If frozen cocktails are your thing, the Ninja Slushi Frozen White Russian uses that same preset.

Piña Colada Style: Swap ½ cup of the pineapple juice for cream of coconut. Richer, sweeter, and very tropical.

Dole Whip Float: Pour an inch of cold pineapple juice into the glass first, then dispense the slush on top. This is how Disneyland serves it, and it is better than either part alone.

No Dream Whip? About 2 tablespoons of instant vanilla pudding mix does a similar job structurally. Pudding mix is the same trick behind our Ninja Slushi Chocolate Milkshake, and it works here too — the flavor just leans a little more vanilla.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the real Disney Dole Whip recipe? No. The parks use a proprietary commercial mix run through a soft-serve machine. This is a copycat that gets very close on flavor and surprisingly close on texture, in drinkable form.

Is this dairy-free? No — and this surprises people, because the Dole Whip served at the parks is dairy-free. Dream Whip contains sodium caseinate, which is a milk protein. If you need a truly dairy-free version, use the blender method with a non-dairy vanilla ice cream instead.

Can I make this without a Ninja Slushi? Yes, but it becomes a different recipe. Blend frozen pineapple chunks with pineapple juice and vanilla ice cream in a blender or food processor — that is our Copycat Dole Pineapple Whip Drink. You will get soft serve rather than a slush drink.

Can I use fresh pineapple juice? You can, and it tastes brighter. Fresh juice varies in sugar content, though, so be ready to whisk in a spoonful of sugar if the machine complains.

How long does it keep? The Ninja Slushi holds it at temperature for hours, so leftovers can stay right in the machine. Anything you have already poured should be enjoyed right away.

What else can I make in the Ninja Slushi? Quite a lot. The Easy Ninja Slushi Frozen Mimosa is a brunch favorite, the Ninja Slushi Apple Cider Slush is perfect once fall hits, and the Ninja Slushi Copycat Frosty is the one my kids request most.
